Bowl for Kids 2012 Campaign
No matter how long it’s been since you were in school, some things never change. Kids still learn to count on the hopscotch court. They still countdown days till the big field trip. And when the time comes to put paintbrush to canvas – yeah, they still go for the most colorful paints they can find.
But if you live in one of New York City’s poorest neighborhoods, opportunities like art, field trips, and even sometimes P.E. are often collateral damage in yearly budget cuts.
The chance to feel inspired and connected at school shouldn’t depend on where you live. That’s why CFK works with elementary schools in some of the city’s hardest hit neighborhoods. With the help of our generous CFK community, we make sure the classrooms are stocked with the basics. We pack the school day with music, art, creative writing and fitness opportunities. We bring in mentors to help boost our students’ self-esteem and inspire long-term goals. And we make sure our principals and teachers get extra support where they need it most.
All of this adds up to more than just better attendance and happier kids – it makes for confident, inspired, high-performing kids who care about school. And that of course makes everyone happy.
So make a donation. Start your own fundraising page. Or better yet, join us for Bowl for Kids on October 23. As always, 100% of your contribution goes directly to student programs.
